I have a client who comes in every other week for a massage session. He's pretty easy to work on and he's so relaxed he usually falls asleep. This older gentleman has been a client at the spa for so long that he just heads straight to the room to get settled in, rather than me escorting him in.
So the other day, I enter the room where he is face down in the face cradle as always but the lights in the room are on high (we usually have the lights dimmed). As I turn them down a touch, I hear him say, "C'mere, I wanna see what you look like." I smirk as I lean over so he can see my face once he's lifted his own visage from the cradle. I realize he usually goes straight to the room and most times he has left before I come back out to reset the room.
Once satisfied with my appearance, we go through the normal session. Afterwards, I figure I should make sure to say goodbye to him and see how he feels after the massage. He walks out, I smile and ask how he's feeling. He says he feels fine, looks at me blankly and says, "Now, who are you?" I laugh and reintroduce myself. He is genuinely surprised. Apparently, I look different in full light than I do in dim light. But I'm sure having his glasses on helped to see what I really looked like. =)
